Artist Inspiration: Dean McRaine

This week we are featuring the work of Dean McRaine, a self-described "psychedelic colored clay artist" based in Kauai, Hawaii, with 35 years of experience making pottery and developing glazes. Dean owns Light Wave Pottery Studio, a fantastic place dedicated to the magic of creation and the alchemy of ceramics located in central Kapaa on the island of Kauai. He is known for his innovative process of using multi-colored slabs to create pieces with vivid color and intricate patterns that reflect his beautiful tropical home.

A Year in Review: The Felt Community is 1 Year Old!

As we mentioned above in the introduction, we hosted our first roundup on December 20, 2020, bringing together a small group of artists and makers who responded to a challenge to "represent the night sky". Since then, we have hosted 10 additional roundups and grown exponentially. We are now a community of over 8,000+ artists, crafters, makers, and creatives from all over the country (with a handful of international artists also in the mix).

Artist Inspiration: Nieves Saah

Nieves Saah, raised in Bilbao, a town in the Basque region of Spain, is a painter who almost exclusively uses palette knives and spatulas to scrape and layer paint on her pieces. Saah earned her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art, where she graduated summa cum laude.
