Seascapes Three Ways
Seascapes three ways
Here's a special section for all our Felt-ers out there who love working in fabrics, as well as anyone out there who's looking to "make waves" by trying something new over the long holiday weekend.
In this video from the National Quilters Circle, June Dudley demonstrates how to create a seascape with strips of fabric. She starts the tutorial with a helpful lesson about color value and how to arrange your fabric in order of lightest to darkest value using a black and white photocopy of her fabric.
Felted
Sometimes referred to as "painting with wool", dry felting is an enjoyable technique and one that might not initially come to mind when thinking about this month's prompt. In this tutorial from Felted Sky Studio, Elizabeth demonstrates the proper setup to keep your fingers safe and puncture-free when creating flat needle scenes. It's especially entertaining to watch this seascape come to life in the speed-up section of this video!
Free Stitched
In this wordless time-lapse video from Lydia Grace Studios, the instructor demonstrates how to experiment and play with fabric scraps to create an abstract seascape composition. She completes the project using a "free stitch" method to create texture and wavy patterns. The final addition of a stitched border gives the final result a clean and refined appearance.
